The WordPerfect Conversion Kit (WPCONV) offers conversion filters for Winword 6.x  making it posible to import and export WordPerfect 5.x for DOS/Win text documents and to import WordPerfect 6.x DOS/Win text documents.  A WPG Graphic filter and equation editor are also included.  Setup installs the following files:

  31. After downloading, to install the WordPerfect kit:
  32. 1. Quit Microsoft Word if it is running.
  33. 2. In Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.
  34. 3. Type "source:\setup" (without quotation marks) and press ENTER, Where "Source" is the directory containing extracted contents of WPCNV.EXE. Example:
  35. C:\AOL20\DOWNLOAD\SETUP

Before opening WordPerfect documents in Word 6.0 for Windows, make sure the Confirm Conversions check box is selected in the File Open dialog box. When opening a WordPerfect 6.0 or 6.1 document, you will need to manually select the WordPerfect 6.0 or 6.1 file type in the Convert File dialog box.

Note for MS Works for Windows V3.0 users:  If you have Works V3.0 *AND* MS Word for Windows loaded on your hard drive, this file will also provide conversions of WordPerfect 6.0 and 6.1 files for use in Works.  In the case of Works, these file type will be listed by choosing File | Open, then selecting WordPerfect 6.0 or 6.1 in the drop down menu titled List Files as Type.  Note that this file will NOT install if you only have Works on your hard drive.
